Carptrek Windmill Lakes Trip 16 - 23 April 2011

We had been looking forward to this trip all winter and it did not dissapoint. We had a great week. We caught some lovely fish at the beautiful rural venue. Sue's home cooked food was top notch as usual.

It is 460 miles from Bicester to Windmill Lakes. In France this is mostly along excellent fast Toll Motorways and does not involve driving around Paris.

Baitcraft T1 is the house bait at Windmill Lakes. The fish seem just as keen on it in France as they are in England.

Sheffield Carpman Matt Parr in action.

Matt Parr got off to a flying start with a beautiful 40lb 2oz Mirror Carp.

Dave advised us to be stealthy so Matt wore brilliant white long johns! He likes the feel of them against his skin apparently. None of Matt's six big fish were captured whilst stalking!

Dan Simpson increased his PB three times on the trip. This is his 34lb 4oz Grass Carp.

This 37lb Mirror Carp rounded off a great trip for Dan.

Even I could catch them. A lovely 30lb 2oz Mirror Carp caught just before breakfast.

Matt's broke the lake record with this 45lb Grass Carp.

Dan's 33lb Mirror.

While we were there John Ellerton caught this massive 94lb Catfish in the Catfish Lake. This fish snubbed John's Catfish rods and took a bait intended for the many carp in this lake. Somehow John landed this beast on 12lb line and a size 8 hook!

Windmill Lakes Trip 7 - 14 May 2011

This trip got off to a flying start when I caught this 42lb Grass Carp within one hour of putting my baits out.

Carptrek Cultural Attache, Darren Clarke fished the Catfish Lake. He landed plenty of carp, mainly upper doubles, and cats up to 53lb.

Kevin Hicks caught steadily,as usual, landing Carp up to 35lb.

I had a dabble on the Catfish Lake one evening and banked this 59lb whopper.

Prof. Paul Allen fished hard in a tricky swim and caught two huge carp. One of 37lb and this 45lb 8oz specimen. This fish is a PB for the Prof. and a lake record too!

The Prof.'s washbag was the secret of his success.
